Nick Simons Institute or nsi.edu.np is a community education organisation established to train, support and even assist with scholarship programs to skilled and compassionate regional health care workers in Nepal. The organisation is named after late Nick Simons the young American from New York, USA, who in 2002 came to Nepal to work after his college graduation and loved Nepal and decided to study medicine and return to Nepal and work as a doctor in the rural Nepal. But tragically young Nick died while swimming in Indonesia.
So in loving memory of their son Jim and Marilyn Simons came to Nepal to establish a project and help funding building of a new Maternity Ward for Patan Hospital and with the help of health care professionals in Nepal in the year 2006 Nick Simons Institute was established.
